Is the lithium electric pallet truck suitable for continuous operation? Warehouses running two shifts handle heavy material flow, and handling equipment operates nearly all day. Many warehouses choose the walk-behind electric pallet jack for multi-shift transport. It works well for continuous tasks yet has certain limitations, which need full evaluation before purchase.

It supports flexible charging. Unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries allow opportunity charging. A short top-up can restore most power. During the short break between shifts, charging for dozens of minutes can support the next shift’s transport work. You do not need to stock multiple spare batteries, cutting battery investment and swapping time.

Lithium battery is lighter in weight, so the truck is easy to maneuver. The walk-behind design fits dense racking and narrow aisles, reducing operator fatigue during long working hours.

Lithium batteries deliver stable discharge. Voltage will not drop rapidly like lead-acid batteries during continuous operation. Power stays steady when travelling with loads and lifting, without obvious power decay. However, the lithium electric pallet truck also has drawbacks. If shifts connect tightly without any charging window, a single battery cannot sustain two full shifts continuously, and spare batteries become necessary. Lithium batteries are sensitive to high temperatures. Poor ventilation and heat dissipation in summer warehouses may trigger thermal protection after long continuous running, slowing down or stopping the truck.

For cold storage, standard lithium batteries suffer further range loss, and low-temperature lithium batteries are required.

Initial purchase cost of the electric pallet jack is higher than lead-acid models. Although it brings long-term savings, the upfront investment is larger. Battery repair and replacement cost is high once damaged. Operators should avoid impacts on the battery pack to protect internal cells.
